A living legend, Clarence Jones

May 17, 2012 | 0

Today I had the honor of meeting an amazing person: Clarence Jones, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s adviser, personal counsel and “I Have a Dream” draft speechwriter! He’s in his 80s now, teaching at Stanford, blogging on politics and civil rights for HuffPost, giving moving speeches and encouraging people (especially youth) to focus on two things: 1) personal excellence and 2) non-violent conflict resolution. He was being honored today by the mayor of San Francisco Ed Lee and gave an inspiring and funny talk. Thanks to San Francisco police commissioner and Omega Boys’ Club/Alive and Free founder and executive director Dr. Joe Marshall (another great leader in the movement to end violence worldwide) for inviting me to an event I won’t forget!
